According to reports, on June 27 local time, Ford CEO Jim Farley stated that Chinese electric vehicles are “far superior” to those made in the West.

Speaking at the Aspen Ideas Festival that day, Farley said: “This is the most humbling experience for me. Seventy percent of the worlds electric vehicles are made in China.”

He mentioned that over the past year, he had traveled to China six or seven times and emphasized: “They have extremely advanced in-car technology. Every vehicle features Huawei and Xiaomi systems. Once you get in, there’s no need to pair your phone—your entire digital life syncs automatically.”

Farley pointed out that one reason Ford struggles to launch similar products is that tech giants like Google and Apple “have chosen not to fully enter the auto industry.”

He further added: “In addition, their cars are far better in cost and quality than what I see in the West.”

Finally, he stated: “We are in a global competition with China—not just in electric vehicles. If we fail, there is no future for Ford.”
